The M1 Shruti Box is easy-to-play and very portable, and becoming increasingly popular on the folk scene for providing a drone backing sound for singers. The drone is rooted in older folk tradition but has been developed further with the box. The body of the box is made from pine which produces a rounded, resonant tone. The reed-board is made from Burmese teak, a harder wood, giving tonal clarity and definition. High grade metal reeds are fitted.
